Open Letter to HCCDC

TO- Hccdc.NSW

The final date for feedback about transformation of our western end on Honeysuckle is 18th Oct 2020.

GLOW is writing to HCCDC now that the consultation ideas are clear about certain buildings and the park.

Our GLOW membership is aware of the many letters written to the Newcastle Herald’s editor, the voice of Newcastle University and input by our Newcastle MP.

The idea is “a call to save the School of Arts”.

To reinforce  this  city wide view, we can be reminded there is a historic & well established precinct, it includes -Wickham Superior Public School, the Wickham Infants School, the Figtree Park /Tree Of Knowledge or Yum Yum Tree , the WW1 Memorial in the Interchange and the School of Arts.

GLOW asks that the integrity of this history be respected by all levels of government.

Please take into account the commentary of the city.

This area has pre-existing historic value and that it stands beside the working harbour of Newcastle.

Now The School of Arts must be preserved, it is integral to the area and Newcastle’s history.

Thank you again for the opportunity to reinforce this history of the city.

Yours faithfully

Great lifestyle of Wickham Inc.
